ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Heather Parker, the artist and creator of Swee'der Creations. I currently live in Connecticut with my husband and two wonderful children. I have always enjoyed and appreciated art but I rediscovered my joy of creating after having my children. While home with the kids during the Covid shutdown I found myself wanting to find something new to help keep me entertained while the kids were doing online learning. My mother in law happens to an amazing potter and set me up with a small starter kit that included a bag of clay and some tools to play around with. That was all it took and the rest is history.

While learning at home, questioning my husband, mother in law,  and watching many online tutorials I was able to figure out some basics and started messaging Johanna Parker some of my works in progress. I used some of her characters as inspiration for some of my creations so I could practice sculpting and then began to paint her characters with underglazes. It was a close to a year of talking with Johanna before I received the amazing offer to join her Partners in Craft team and of course I couldn't say no. It has been such a pleasure working with her and incorporating some of her characters into my creations.

 My husband and I soon realized we needed a work space here at home for all of our crafts and transformed a small portion of our basement into a an area that we could both create and make pottery. Since then we have been creating and building Swee'der Creations right here in the basement of our home.
